Committees

Programs

  • Develops annual program calendar and presents it at PTA meeting for adoption.

  • Collaborates with principal, PTA president and other committee chairs to coordinate, plan and implement programs.

  • Publicize approved program calendar using bulletin board, newsletters, website, and social networks.

  • Oversees and delegates volunteer recruitment for implementing and running programs.

First Time Membership

Fundraising

  • Gather information and establish a file of potential fundraisers.

  • Plan fundraising activities according to the approved budget.

  • Review fundraisers to assure all legal/ethical requirements are met.

  • Review contracts and forward to the president for signature or others advocating for school improvements.

  • Use the 3-to-1 rule: for every fundraising activity, there should be at least three non-fundraising projects aimed at helping parents or children.

Membership

  • Create, implement, and assess a year round membership plan that includes retention strategies as well as action steps that target and attract new members.

  • Build an informed and active membership that supports PTA’s mission, goals, and programs and understands the link between PTA at the local, state and national levels.

  • Promote and celebrate PTA successes with members and the greater community.

Legislative & Advocacy

  • Encourage the PTA to become actively engaged in the promotion of extracurricular events, before/after-school programs.

  • Stay abreast of the county budget process and inform PTA on budget-related public hearings, emails and social media campaigns.

  • Cultivate relationships with board members while encouraging public engagement and testimony and inviting elected officials to engage with the PTA.

  • Work with community, and other language immersion programs to ensure continuity of services and retention for Spanish immersion at the middle and high school levels.
